Sekui met with Leader of Socialist Party (SP) Edi Rama who was the winner of elections held on June 23, 2013.

Speaking to journalists after meeting, Sekui said membership process to Eu would take place in new government's agenda which will take charge in September, adding Rama had underlined the new government would work to realize his country's membership targets to Eu. Sekui said they talked on Albania's membership process during the meeting, stating 'Albania can get the status of a candidate country and we hope that."
