Russian special forces have killed eight fighters, including two regional commanders of insurgent groups, in the country's turbulent North Caucasus region, officials said on Saturday.
Security forces launched two operations late on Friday, Russia's National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAK) said.
The two commanders killed, Islam Magomedov, 28, and Arsen Magomedov, 29, have been on the special forces' wanted list since 2010, an NAK spokesman in Moscow told Reuters.
"Seven militants, including two local leaders, have been eliminated in a fire exchange in the Kayakent and Sergokala districts of Dagestan," the spokesman said.
The eighth fighters was killed during an operation in the Kabardino-Balkaria region, he said.
“Our air defense unit managed at 19:40 local time [16:40 GMT] to target and hit an [Israeli] F-16 with a surface-to-air missile over Deir al-Balah city in central Gaza, as the plane was preparing to strike a target,” the brigades said in a brief statement.
Mahmoud Hamamrah, 32, was shot in the heart by Israeli gunfire during clashes in Husan town, nine kilometers west of Bethlehem.
