A section of a bridge on the D-100 highway that formerly linked the metrobus lane to the old terminal station collapsed in İstanbul's Avcılar district on Sunday morning, killing a road worker.

Several road workers were on duty in the early hours of Sunday to remove concrete sections of the bridge, which was being dismantled as part of work to expand the station. One worker died and two others were injured.

Metrobus services were immediately suspended shortly after the incident and the highway closed to traffic as the debris from the collapsed section of the bridge made it impossible for vehicles to pass. Many people had no other option but to go home on foot.
