Turkey's minister for EU affairs has said that the EU was a peace project.
Turkey's membership would make a great contribution to the Union, EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis told a tv channel in the Netherlands.
"Turkey is good for the EU and the EU is good for Turkey," he said.
Turkey's contribution to the EU would be understood better later, he said.
There have been great relations between Turkey and the Netherlands for 400 years, he added.
