Sebahat Tuncel, a deputy from the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), was sentenced to eight years, nine months in prison by an İstanbul court on Tuesday on charges of membership in the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
The court also issued an international travel ban for Tuncel.
