Ovacık Chief Public Prosecutor Murat Uzun was shot dead by an unidentified assailant on Wednesday in the eastern province of Tunceli.
Uzun was reportedly shot in the head while leaving his house on his way to court.
A police operation assisted by a helicopter has been launched to capture the assailant, who fled the scene in a car immediately after the incident.
In a related case, a prosecutor from the Doğubayazıt district of the eastern province of Ağrı was shot in February by an unidentified individual as he was getting into his car. He subsequently died in hospital.
