A lieutenant and a civilian were killed and seven others injured in a clash with militants from the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) on Monday in Çukurca, a district on the Iraqi border in the southeastern province of Hakkari.

The skirmish erupted while Turkish troops were conducting an operation against the PKK organization in Çukurca's Kazan Valley, reports said.
