Jerusalem Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Hussein on Sunday strongly condemned Israeli occupation forces' decision to demolish a historic mosque in Jerusalem's east neighborhood of Um Tuba.
"The occupation authorities claim that the mosque was built without a license or permission… this is a pretext because the mosque was built since 700 years ago and was restored last time in 1963," Sheikh Hussein said in a statement.
He warned Israeli occupation forces of tearing down al-Omari old Mosque, calling UNESCO, Arab and international organizations to immediately intervene and stop this decision.
Al-Omari Mosque is the only one in Um Tuba town.
