Direct flights began between Turkish and Libyan capital cities on Thursday.

The first Libyan Airlines flight brought passengers from the Libyan capital of Tripoli to the Turkish capital of Ankara.

The Libyan Airlines will fly between the two cities twice a week, on Mondays and Tuesdays.

With the flights from Ankara to Tripoli, the number of international destinations from Ankara's Esenboga Airport reached 39.

In June 2009, the Airports Council International in Europe (ACI Europe) chose Ankara's Esenboga Airport as the best airport in Europe in "5-10 million passenger" category.
