Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Friday said that "there was great fire and pain in Syria".

Speaking to reporters in Istanbul, Gul said that Turkey did everything possible to avoid "fire and pain in Syria".

We have done everything possible within Syria and in the world. Unfortunately, the situation in Syria is at its worst, Gul stressed.

The Syrian issue is not one between Syria and Turkey. What is taking place in Syria is an issue of whole humanity and the whole globe, Gul also said.
