Armed tribesmen seized four military sites that had been captured earlier by Houthis in the central Yemeni province of Al-Baydaa, tribal sources said Monday.

"Following heavy clashes, tribesmen took control of the four military sites in the Dhi Naim district after flushing out the Houthis," one source, requesting anonymity, told.

The clashes left several dead and injured from both sides, the sources said.

Al-Baydaa has recently been the scene of tit-for-tat fighting between Houthis and armed tribesmen.

Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies, meanwhile, have been striking Houthi positions across Yemen by air since Wednesday.

Saudi Arabia said its anti-Houthi campaign was in response to appeals by embattled Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi to "save the people of Yemen from the Houthis."
