Six Houthis were killed Sunday in clashes with tribesmen in Yemen's eastern Maarib province, tribal sources have said.
Clashes erupted early in the day between armed tribesmen from the Murad tribe and Houthis in Maarib's southern Mahliyah district, a tribal source, requesting anonymity, told.
The fighting left six Houthis killed and five others were wounded, all of whom have been transferred to a nearby hospital, according to a medical source who asked not to be named.
One of the tribesmen also sustained wounds during the clashes.
Sources said the tribesman had detained seven Houthis and destroyed two Houthi army patrols.
The clashes erupted when Houthi army patrols attempted to advance towards Maarib province, but tribesmen quelled their attempt and forced them to retreat, the sources added.
The attack targeted a meeting of ISIL leaders in the eastern Deir Ez Zour province
