The hashtag “Unutmayacagiz”, or "we will not forget", has become a worldwide trending topic on Twitter as Turkey on Saturday marks the first anniversary of the deadly defeated coup.
Millions of Twitter users across to world used the hashtag to draw attention to the deadly coup bid on July 15, 2016, that martyred 249 souls and left 2,200 others injured.
Commemoration events have been conducted in major cities in Turkey and around the world to pay tribute to the victims and honor the Turkish citizens that managed to beat back the coup plotters on the call of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the night of the overthrow attempt.
The Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) and its U.S.-based leader, Fetullah Gulen, are accused of orchestrating the attempted overthrow.
