Turkish daily newspapers on Tuesday covered funeral services for six Turkish troops who were killed in a terrorist attack on a military outpost at the weekend, defection of Syrian Prime Minister Riad Hijab to the opposition, and Turkey's first medal in the 2012 Olympic Games. The Anadolu Agency does not verify these stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.

Most of the Turkish dailies covered the funeral services held on Monday in the hometowns of Turkish soldiers killed on Sunday in a terrorist attack on a military outpost in the southeastern province of Hakkari. "Scene of desperation" daily CUMHURIYET headlined while covering the families of killed soldiers in tears. The daily stated that the clashes between Turkish security forces and terrorists had been continuing in the region since July 23, during the continuing process the difficulty emerged in terms of food, and around thousand of villagers forced to move to the Semdinli district of the southeastern province of Hakkari. The daily also stated that the main opposition People's Republican Party would call an extraordinary session at Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

The Turkish dailies wrote about Syrian Prime Minister Riad Hijab's defection to anti-Assad opposition. "His prime minister fled, too" daily TURKIYE headlined over the latest loss for Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad. The daily stated that Riad Hijab fled to Jordan on Monday officially being sacked from his post due to his oppositional announcements. Riad Hijab is the upmost government official to escape the country since the anti-goverment rebellion began almost 17 months ago in the country.

Another topic that most of the Turkish dailies mentioned on Tuesday is Turkey's first medal in the 2012 London Olympic Games. Riza Kayaalp who was one of Turkey's biggest gold medal hope won the bronze medal on Monday after defeating his Georgian opponent in the men's 120kg Greaco-Roman wrestling match in the Olympic Games in London, bringing Turkey its first olympic medal.
