Turkish Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) Chairman Fuat Oktay has said that there were more than 66,000 Syrians currently staying in Turkey after fleeing clashes in their country.
Speaking to reporters on Friday in Turkish capital of Ankara, Oktay said that number of Syrians in the country reached 66,000 following the latest developments in Syria.
Stating that there were eight container cities and a tent city in Turkey, Oktay said that those cities were insufficient to host Syrians in the country.
"Four new camps are under construction at the moment and they will be erected in 10 days. We take care of them in a world class level. All of those cities are separated, lets think those residential areas for 10,000 people, and how many cities' population in Turkey are above 10,000-" said Oktay.
Oktay stated that Syrian people's cost to Turkey was reaching 300 million USD, adding that they had been declaring for an international assistance for the last 45 days through Turkish Foreign Ministry.
Noting that there were several statements which said international assistance would come from United Nations and US sides, Oktay said nothing has come yet.
"It is something beyond Turkey, everybody should take responsibility," Oktay said.
