Lieutenant General Phillip Valerio Sibanda says 'normalcy has returned to our country'

World Bulletin / News Desk

Zimbabwe’s army has announced an end to operations following five weeks of intense military intervention which led to the resignation of President Robert Mugabe who ran the country for 37 years.

According to Lieutenant General Phillip Valerio Sibanda “normalcy has returned to our country”.

“It is for this reason that as your defense and security services we announce the end of Operation Restore Legacy today the 18th of December, 2017,” he told reporters in the capital, Harare.

When the operation was launched Nov. 13, its main objective was to remove criminals that had surrounded the former president, the military claimed.

“As we focus on recovering our economy, we must shed misbehaviors and acts of indiscipline which have characterized the past. Acts of corruption must stop forthwith,” Sibanda said.
