According to police sources, Ahmet Condul died immediately after an armed clash erupted between the security forces and suspects.

Police sources said officers Deniz Bayram, Huseyin Ciftci, Mehmet Agca, Mehmet Ali Koca, Hikmet Ilgen, Omer Dogan and Saban Nergiz were wounded in the clash.

Ilgen, injured in his hand, was discharged from hospital whereas other police officers are still in hospitals. They are in stable condition, sources said.

Anti-terror teams staged simultaneous operations on 18 different locations in Kahramanmaras and Gaziantep provinces early on Thursday.

They accomplished their operations in 15 of the locations in two hours, while an armed clash erupted as suspects opened fire on security forces in three locations. The last operation ended at 2:45 p.m. -- 11 hours after it was launched.

The security teams killed four suspects in the operations -- two of whom were identified as Mehmet Polat and his son Mehmet Zeki Polat.

Their relative Mehmet Polat surrendered to police.
