Gokhan Cengizhan, chairman of the Turkish Litterateurs' Association, said that 12 Turkish and German writers would attend some activities in the cities of Hamburg, Cologne, Berlin and Darmstadt before the 60th Frankfurt Book Fair on October 14th and 19th.
Imre Torok, chairman of the German Litterateurs' Association, said, on his part that Turkey's slogan in the fair will be 'charming and colorful' as the honorary guest.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Nobel laureate Orhan Pamuk will inaugurate the fair. German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier will also be in attendance at the inauguration.
The Frankfurt Book Fair is the world's largest trade fair for books on the basis of number of publishing companies represented. It is held annually in mid-October in Frankfurt. For five days, representatives from book publishing and multimedia companies from all over the world come to the Frankfurt Book Fair organized by a subsidiary company of the German Publishers and Booksellers Associations.
