Ramadan is an opportunity to reach out to less fortunate Muslims and set examples of fraternity and solidarity. As part of a Ramadan campaign, the IHH extended its help to Caribbean nations Cuba and Haiti, which has an Islamic background that goes back to several decades ago.

The IHH, which has been carrying out relief activities in Cuba, was one of the first aid agencies that extended aid to Haiti.

Haiti is one of the poorest nations in the world. The country was hit by a strong hurricane several weeks ago. In Haiti, there are about 3,500 Muslims, who have converted to Islam from other religions. Half of the Haitian population lives in the capital city Port-au-Prince. There are five masjids in the capital city. Muslims residents of the city reside in neighborhoods close to the mosques.

A significant number of Muslims have their fast-breaking meals at these mosques. The IHH undertook providing fast-breaking meals for 25 days. IHH officials could not reach some mosques in the country due to the hurricane.
