Iran stated that it trusted Turkey in international matters.
Diplomatic sources told Anadolu news agency on Monday that Iranian officials held high-level meetings within the scope of the 25th session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in Istanbul, and conveyed that they trusted Turkey in international issues.
Iranian officials said that they took Turkey's suggestions into consideration in international matters, adding that they attached importance to Turkey's taking active role in solution of international problems.
UN nuclear watchdog agency proposed Turkey as a third-country destination in a draft deal that would provide Iran with fuel for its Tehran research reactor.
Bloomberg website quoted Mohamed ElBaradei, director-general of the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency, as saying in an interview, "Iran has a lot of trust in Turkey."
The Obama administration would agree to this proposal because the U.S. is very comfortable with Turkey, he said.
Bloomberg website also on Monday said, "Turkish and Iranian officials held talks on the proposal."
The Turkish option was discussed by officials from the two countries on Monday at a meeting of leaders of Islamic nations in Istanbul, the report quoted Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu as saying in an interview.
"Asked how Turkey views the plan, he said the country "always wants to help" resolve disputes, without elaborating, " the report added.
However, Iranian media said, Iran had not accepted the proposal earlier.
