Speaking in a broadened local chairmen's meeting of the ruling Justice & Development (AK) Party, Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan reacted to the Republican People's Party (CHP) regarding the placards opened at the parliament and the party's remarks on Dersim incident. Erdogan said, "they are shadowing their outdated mentalities by exploiting Ataturk."
Erdogan said the government had taken a brave step with its democratic initiative. "Terrorism, Kurdish and Alevi issues have come to this point because of those who said 'that's life'. It is our duty to solve these problems," he also said.
ATALAY: HALF OF MAKHMOUR WILL COME
Interior Minister Besir Atalay said the government would give a peculiar importance to the Makhmour camp in the north of Iraq. Atalay said, "I think 11,000 people will come back." Atalay said that a prefabricated building would be constructed in Habur for those who would come back to Turkey.

ERGENEKON HAS UNKNOWN ARSENAL, ACCORDING TO PLAN KAFES
The details of the action plan of Operation "Kafes" (Cage) have been becoming clear. The Taraf newspaper deciphered the plan and the Prime Ministry confirmed it by saying an investigation was under way. The action plan includes striking information about a junta structuring. The plan said the organization was having problems in finding new members, and the current personnel was trained. It said, "we have sufficient arms for an operation." Here are some of the arms and ammunition mentioned in the plan but which have not been found yet: 30 LAW; C-4, C-3 and C-9 explosives; two tons of ammonium nitrate; 5 Glocks; 4 assassination guns (Uzi); 4 sniper rifles; and 50 other types of guns.
LIEUTENANT GIVING LIVE GRENADE TO SOLDIERS SENTENCED TO NINE YEARS
A military court sentenced lieutenant Mehmet Tumen to nine years and two months in prison on charges of causing death of four soldiers in the eastern province of Elazig. The lieutenant will serve no more than six years in prison. On August 17, soldier Ibrahim Ozturk was caught sleeping on duty and Tumer gave him a live hand grenade explaining that it would not explode. The bomb later exploded in Ozturk's hands, killing three other soldiers.

ADMIRAL ALLEGEDLY INVOLVED IN JUNTA
It was revealed that a junta in the Turkish Navy Forces, which targeted to overthrow the government by staging assassinations on minorities according a what has been called "the Cage Plan," was ordered to report to an admiral who leads the North Sea Command at the headquarters in Kasimpasa, Istanbul. The admiral in charge of the Command was A. Feyyaz Ogutcu back then who was also asked to be probed by Ergenekon prosecutor Zekeriya Oz.

GERMAN PROSECUTORS SAY OVER TWO DOZEN SOCCER GAMES HAVE BEEN FIXED IN TURKEY
As European soccer leagues have been hit by allegations of game-fixing, German prosecutors said Friday that 29 soccer games in Turkey had also been manipulated along with nine other European countries. prosecutors said a multinational gang had rigged over 200 soccer games from amateur leagues to the Champions League. Fifteen people were detained in German as police took two others under custody in Switzerland in relation with game-fixing gang.
DTP DEPUTY CALLS FOR CENSUS FOR ETHNIC GROUPS
Hasip Kaplan, a deputy form the Democratic Society Party (DTP), has called for a population census for ethnic groups in Turkey. "Let's ask everyone their ethnic identity in the population census scheduled for 2011 and see how many people belonged to which group," Kaplan said. Kaplan also said a similar question was asked in 1965 census to determine people's origins and their religious sects.
INTELLIGENCE AGENCY WARNS OVER COURT INSPECTION OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS WATCHDOG
Turkey's National Intelligence Agency (MIT) has issued a warning for a court in Ankara's Sincan town over its recent inspections at the country's telecommunications watchdog which has been the object of a heated debate over its phone-tapping activities. MIT told the court that seizing phone records of foreigners in matters that relates to the legal authorities could seriously compromise national security.

SECRET SUICIDE OF COLONEL
Retired colonel Ali Belgutay Varimli, publicly known as the person "who took epaulets of former Naval Forces Commander Ilhami Erdil out" and who testified in Ergenekon case, died as he fell from the tenth floor. His relatives said Varimli had some psychological problems.
Varimli, who was the head of the Inspection Boards of the National Defense Ministry, told the court trying Erdil about the huge expenditures of the Erdil's and that he was threatened by mafia boss Alaattin Cakici with murder.
Retired colonel Varimli is claimed to be sent to the United States together with Major Cem Ersever, who is said to be the founder of JITEM (gendarmery intelligence). Also, his name is mentioned in the third Ergenekon indictment.
Varimli's brother said, "this is a suicide, you should not try to draw some other conclusions from it."

An esteemed university of the United States, Georgetown, and the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center of Jordan released "the 500 most influential Muslims in the world" report. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is ranked the fifth on the list which included 20 Turks. Fethullah Gulen is the 13th and President Abdullah Gul is the 28th. Hayrunnisa Gul took place in the women section of the report as the first First Lady in Turkey to wear the headscarf.

TERRIBLE CLAIM: GAME FIXING IN 29 MATCHES
Turkey was also involved in the millions of Euros of betting scandal in Europe. A German prosecutor announced that 29 matches were fixed in Turkish leagues. In a press conference, Germany's Bochum Prosecutor's Office and UEFA said that they had found out betting scandal in 200 matches in Europe. They said players and referees of matches in nine countries were paid and manipulated.

An official of Turkish Football Federation said the German prosecutor's office had not informed them. UEFA invited the Turkish federation to a special meeting to take place in Switzerland on November 25.

Besiktas and Fenerbahce soccer teams of Turkey will take on each other at Besiktas' Inonu Stadium this night in a derby match. Besiktas has given away six goals in 12 games whereas Fenerbahce gave away seven goals. The two teams therefore are expected to play defensively.

BETTING SCANDAL
A German prosecutor has alleged that a gang had rigged 200 soccer games in nine countries in Europe including Turkey. The prosecutor from Bochum said in Turkey 29 games, including three from the country's premier league, had been fixed. UEFA officials are set to meet with Turkish counterparts on November 25 to talk about the allegations.
RETIRED COLONEL FOUND DEAD IN SUSPECTED SUICIDE
A retired navy officer was found dead in the garden of his Istanbul apartment building on Friday in a suspected suicide after jumping out of his 10th floor apartment balcony. Ret. colonel Belgutay Varimili was the head of an financial inspection unit in the Defense Ministry which investigated into former navy commander Ilhami Erdil for fraud allegations. Erdil was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.

"MY NOTES CHANGED HANDS THREE TIMES"
Mustafa Balbay, the representative of Cumhuriyet daily in Ankara, said during a hearing of the second Ergenekon case that "his journalism in Ankara" was shown as a crime in the indictment. Balbay said, "my notes have changed hands three times, they were even broken into pieces when they were being put before you. The notes claimed to belong to me were written in other computers."

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu met foreign ministers including those of the United States, Russia, Britain and France in Afghanistan. Then, he proceeded to Tabriz, Iran. Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Motaki, who just returned from the Philippines, joined the talks with Davutoglu.
Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadi-Nejad, Motaki and Davutoglu debated Iran's nuclear program about which the Western countries, particularly the United States and Israel, have doubts. Davutoglu said, "Turkey is ready to do what it has to do."

NUCLEAR TENDER CANCELLED
The Turkish Electricity Trading and Contracting Inc. (TETAS) cancelled the tender on the construction and operation of Turkey's first nuclear power plant. There was only one bidder in the tender. The Energy and Natural Resources Ministry has launched initiatives for a new tender. This time, there will be public-private sector consortium in the tender.
