Turkey has decided to provide 1 million U.S. dollars of financial aid to Haiti which was hit by a devastating earthquake.

A statement by the Foreign Ministry of Turkey said that four military planes carrying 10-member search and rescue team and 40 tons of humanitarian aid were on their way to Haiti.

Mobile hospital, medicine, medical equipment, tents, blankets and food as well as 20 health personnel were sent to the region by the ministry of health and Turkish red crescent.

The 7.0-magnitude quake, Haiti's worst in two centuries, struck on Tuesday, January 12.
