Turkish President Abdullah Gul sent a congratulatory message to President Fatmir Seydiu of Kosovo to mark the second anniversary of the country's independence.
In his message, President Gul said, "on behalf of Turkish people, I congratulate the second birthday of the Republic of Kosovo with most sincere feelings."
After nine years under the administration of the United Nations, Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia on February 17, 2008. Since then, 65 countries including the United States and the majority of European Union members, have recognized Kosovo. Turkey is one of the first countries recognizing the independent Republic of Kosovo.
