A Turkish singer has become the world's fastest blind driver after driving at 292 kilometers per hour.

Metin Senturk, who is a famous singer and TV host in Turkey, set the new record driving a Ferrari at an airstrip in southeastern Turkey.

Senturk's new record has been approved by Guinness officials from United Kingdom following the examination of satellite data to detect his average full speed --292.89 km per hour-- on the airfield.

Blind since three years old, Senturk, 44, said he aimed to raise awareness of visually-impaired.

"I would like to dedicate this record to my beautiful country and all my visually-impaired friends," he told a news conference following his attempt.

"I am now calling on all the disabled, all the people who locked themselves at home, to go out to streets and clear away all the obstacles," Senturk said.
