Jordanian border guards on Wednesday an attempt by infiltrators to sneak into the Hashemite kingdom from Syria.
In a statement, the Jordanian army said that border guards engaged with a group of people trying to infiltrate the kingdom's northern borders with Syria.
Two infiltrators were injured in the clash, the statement said, giving no further details.
In recent weeks, rebels have threatened attacks against Jordan over what they described the kingdom's collaboration with the West.
Last month, the Jordanian warplanes had destroyed a number of Syrian vehicles that had tried to cross the border into Jordanian territory.
Meanwhile, the army statement said that border guards rushed 8 Syrian nationals suffering shrapnel injuries in Syria to Jordanian hospitals.
According to the statement, 1,154 Syrian refugees crossed into the kingdom in the past two days and were sent to refugees camps.
There are nearly 1.3 million Syrian refugees in Jordan.
