Local resident Hussein Abdi told "We have counted four burnt bodies removed by the police and taken to the mortuary."
According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen had targeted a shop in Wajir's Barwaqo neighborhood.
The four dead burnt beyond recognition are believed to have been customers at the shop.
"I can confirm the attack which took place around 8pm," local government official Abbas Mohamed told.
"It's still unclear to us who may have been behind it. It's early to point fingers and police are yet to issue a statement," he said.
Two people were injured in the attack, including the daughter of the shop owner.
