Five people died Saturday when two boats carrying refugees capsized near the eastern coast of Tunisia, a security source has said.
"Two boats carrying illegal immigrants capsized due to the turbulent weather conditions after they left the Teboulba port in the eastern Monastir province," the source, requesting anonymity, told Aandolu Agency.
According to the source, Coast Guard personnel have managed to rescue 49 refugees.
The source said that all illegal immigrants aboard the two boats were Tunisian nationals.
Tunisian authorities have yet to issue an official comment on the incident.
