More than 21 million voters are called to polls Thursday to elect new members of the 1,541 People’s Communal Assemblies (APC) and the 48 Provincial Assemblies (APW) for a new term of five years, reported Algeria Press Service.
In total, there are 21,445,621 registered on the electoral roll, who are concerned by this double voting.
Under the provisions of the electoral law, vote begins at 8am at all polling stations across the country and will end on the same day to 7 pm. The closing time may be extended for an additional hour.
The voting began on Monday morning at the office traveling through sparsely populated areas of Ouargla, Tindouf, Tamanrasset, Bechar and Illizi.
The campaign for electoral appointment ended at Sunday midnight, after three weeks of activities in which political parties and independent candidates were deployed to attract voters and raise awareness of the issue of this election.
The political parties and independent lists have multiplied during this campaign, local meetings and events to convince people of the merits of their programs and have focused their speeches on the concerns of citizens, particularly housing and employment.
Although the programs differ from one party to another, almost all political parties have called for a "massive vote " on the election day "to preserve the stability of the country in a special international situation."
