A massive fire gutted dozens of shops in the Nile Delta province of Daqahliya on Monday, leaving 19 people injured.
The conflagration, which broke out in the early hours of Monday, destroyed 72 stores and several residences in the town of Manzala, security sources said.
A local cultural center was also reportedly damaged by the blaze.
Initial investigations have revealed that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.
All the damaged shops are owned by the local municipality and rented by individual shopkeepers.
