The political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood has condemned the killing of a child during rallies in support of ousted President Mohamed Morsi, saying the death brought to mind the grisly murder of a Palestinian child by Israeli soldiers in 2000.
A child died Friday in clashes between supporters and opponents of the ousted president in the Giza district of Omraniyah.
"We strongly condemn the killing of the child by militias of the military coup," the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) said in a statement.
It added that the killing "hurts every human being in Egypt and the world and recalls to mind the image of Mohamed al-Dorra while being killed by the Zionist entity".
Footage of 11-year-old Al-Dorra while being shot at by Israeli soldiers as his father struggled to shield him from the gunfire shocked the world in 2000.
The FJP argued that Friday's killing showed that the military coup has lost its mind.
"The coup and their militias victimize innocent generations of Egyptians whose only mistake is to chant in schools and protest against despotism and in defense of their own will and right to freedom," it added.
It insisted that violence by the coup leaders would not scare protesters away.
"Time will come soon for us to bring those who committed mistakes to account," the FJP said. "No criminals will be able to evade punishment."Last Mod: 09 Kasım 2013, 12:28
