The government of DRC led by Joseph Kabila has signed a ''special arrangement agreement'' with the opposition and other stakeholders Thursday,
The agreement is meant to guide the country into the upcoming presidential election before the end of the year.
This comes as a follow-up to the Dec. 31, 2016, agreement between the government and the opposition.
That agreement was brokered by Catholic bishops after bitter riots against President Kabila's failure to leave office on Dec. 16 when his term expired.
Over 50 people were killed during demonstrations.
The special arrangement was signed at the country's parliament in the presence of the leaders of the two houses of the parliament.
