Egyptian police on Sunday arrested former Libyan electricity minister Umran Ibrahim, who had served under slain strongman Muammar Gaddafi, at a border crossing with Libya.
"Ibrahim was arrested while trying to travel through Saloum crossing border," Matrouh Security Directorate said in a statement.
The statement did not clarify whether the ex-minister was traveling from Egypt to Libya or vice versa.
It said Ibrahim, placed on Egypt's no-travel lists since 2011, will be deported to Libya.
The Libyan government has repeatedly called on Egyptian authorities to hand over Gaddafi-era officials thought to have taken refuge in Egypt after Gaddafi was toppled in 2011.
