Russia has sold an air missile defence system first to Venezuela then to Egypt. Egypt has taken possession of the weapons system.
Known as the “Anti 2500” air missile system has taken possession of the system on Wednesday.
The Russian arms company Almaz-Anti General Manager assistant Vyaceslav Dzirkaln, recognising Egypt as one of the most important Middle Eastern country said that they had delivered the S 300 VM system saying that after Venezuela, Egypt was the second country to purchase the advance system.
The 'S 300 VM' agreement was signed following the Moscow visit of Egyptian President Abdulfattah al Sisi and considered to be the first positive signed agreement between the two countries.
In his statement to the press, Dzirkaln said that their previous sale of 27 “Tur m1” systems were to be expanded, and that they offered regular maintenance options for them.
