Egypt's electoral commission on Sunday began to receive applications from candidates for next month's parliamentary election.
Parliamentary hopefuls will be allowed to present their applications to the commission until Feb. 17.
Egypt's parliamentary election is set to start on March 21.
The parliamentary vote represents the final phase of an army-imposed transitional roadmap unveiled in mid-2013 following the ouster of Mohamed Morsi – Egypt's first freely elected president – by the military.
The roadmap had also included a constitutional referendum and a presidential poll, both of which were conducted last year.
