One Egyptian police personnel died in the early hours of Tuesday of wounds he sustained late Monday in an attack by unknown gunmen on a customs facility in the coastal city of Port Said.
Mohamed Shaaban Ali, 21, breathed his last at the military hospital in Port Said of a gunshot to the stomach.
Four unknown militants driving two motorbikes had opened fire at the customs facility, witnesses said.
Army and police forces are combing the area in pursuit of the attackers, who were all hooded.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, the second in Port Said in a week.
