Three Egyptian police conscripts were injured on Sunday in an armed attack on their bus in the north of restive Sinai Peninsula, security sources said.

The attackers opened fire at an Interior Ministry bus on the road connecting between Arish and Rafah, leaving three conscripts wounded, before they fled the scene, the sources added.

The attack came one day after a major explosion targeted the military intelligence headquarters in the Suez Canal province of Ismailia, leaving six citizens slightly injured, according to Egyptian army spokesman Ahmed Mohamed Ali.

Military and police sites have been at the center of repeated attacks following the ouster of Egypt's elected president Mohamed Morsi on July 3. Scores of army personnel and policemen have been killed in the string of assaults.
