An Egyptian university has sacked the acting Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, Mahmoud Ezzat, and professor Mohamed al-Gawwadi, a supporter of ousted President Mohamed Morsi.
The pair were sacked for being absent for more than three months, Ashraf al-Sheihy, the acting President of the Zagazig University, said on Tuesday.
He added that investigations proved that the pair had been absent from university without a prior notice.
Local Egyptian media say that Ezzat is currently in the Gaza Strip, a claim denied by the Hamas government.
Al-Gawwadi is a frequent speaker at the Doha-based Aljazeera television and a vocal critic of the army's July 3 ouster of democratically elected Morsi.
