Egyptian interim President Adly Mansour flew to Saudi Arabia early on Monday for his first foreign visit since his appointment in early July.
Mansour was installed as interim president by Egypt's powerful army following the July 3 ouster of elected President Mohamed Morsi.
Saudi Arabia had been the first Arab country to recognize Egypt's new interim government.
The oil-rich kingdom has since pledged billions of dollars in aid and free shipments of oil to Egypt's new military-backed administration.
According to presidential spokesman Ehab Badawi, Mansour will meet with Saudi officials to discuss means of boosting bilateral relations.
Badawi underlined Saudi Arabia's regional importance and the role it has played in fostering inter-Arab conciliation.
An Egyptian presidential delegation arrived in Saudi Arabia on Saturday to prepare for Mansour's arrival.Last Mod: 07 Ekim 2013, 13:39
