Ethiopia has strongly condemned the alleged ISIL execution of a group of over 30 men, whom a just-released video by the armed group purported to be Ethiopian Christians.

"We are investigating into the matter to make sure that the video is authentic and the victims are Ethiopians," Redwan Hussein, Minister-in-Charge of Government Communications Affairs Office, told.

"The purported killing of migrant workers in Libya by ISIL is a deplorable act of terrorism," he said, adding that whether the victims were Ethiopians or not, the Ethiopian government condemns the act in the strongest possible terms.

Meanwhile, he asserted that his government is preparing to facilitate the return of Ethiopians from Libya.

"We have for long stood against terrorism and extremism in view of its harmful impact," Hussein said. "We will face up to it," he added.

A video released by ISIL armed group earlier Sunday purportedly showed the execution of dozens of Ethiopian Christians by its affiliates in two separate areas of Libya.
