Former rebels in Benghazi, Libya, have arrested several people accused of recent car bombings in the city. Most of those held are foreigners, including several from Chad.
However, a military source told the BBC that the arrests made only been made as an attempt to demonstrate authority, and that the brigade had no official power.
Members of the Martyrs' brigade, who made the arrests, said the detainees had confessed to at least 15 car bombings in the city. They are accused of being mercenaries recruited by Gaddafi supporters.
Many believe the arrests are just a theatrical act of propaganda, and that they might even be a cover up for local groups who are suspected of being responsible for the violence.Last Mod: 23 Ekim 2013, 11:15
