French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has said that they would like to see UN peacekeeping force ready for mission in Mali in April. French units would not immediately leave Mali after April but we will reduce the number of soldiers in the country, Fabius told reporters on Thursday.

Fabius noted that after UN peacekeeping force was deployed in Mali, French units would concentrate on counter-terrorism more.

As President Francois Hollande mentioned yesterday; we cannot stay in Mali forever, said Fabius.

French diplomatic sources think UN Security Council will vote a resolution for deployment of UN peacekeeping force in Mali in the end of February or beginning of March.
