Kenyan police on Tuesday raided the Dadaab camp – the world’s largest refugee camp – and arrested four suspected members of the Al-Shabaab militant group.

Acting on a tipoff, police also netted an assortment of ammunition and bomb-making materials in the camp, which is located in Kenya's North Eastern province.

“We searched a house belonging to the suspects and recovered ammunition and bomb-making materials,” Mohamud Ali Saleh, regional coordinator for Kenya’s North Eastern Province, told Anadolu Agency.

In April, Kenya threatened to close the Dadaab camp -- which was suspected of harboring militants -- after 140 students were killed in an Al-Shabaab attack on a university in the country’s north.

During a recent visit to Kenya, U.S secretary of State John Kerry pledged $45 million in aid to improve conditions at the camp.

According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Kenya currently hosts over 420,000 Somali refugees.
