United States Ambassador to Libya Deborah Jones was called to Libyan Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
US forces reportedly captured a top al-Qaeda figure Abu Anas al-Liby in a raid in Libya.
According to a written statement made by the ministry, the ambassador was reportedly called to receive information about the operation carried out by US special troops in Libya on the grounds of 'bringing international terrorists to justice'.
Jones was also reported to have been called as Libyan officials were not informed about the operation in which US forces seized al-Liby.
The al-Qaeda figure Anas al-Liby was seized in the raid in Libya. Liby, 49, has been under US indictment for his alleged role in the East Africa embassy bombings that killed 224 people.
