A Libyan assassin has been killed inside his farm near the northeastern city of Darnah, according to a government official.
The official, who requested anonymity, told Anadolu Agency that Ali ben Taher, aka al-Far, was killed by multiple gunshots.
Al-Far was suspected of being behind a string of recent assassinations that targeted policemen and judges in the town, the source said, adding that he had likely been killed by the relatives of one of his victims.
Al-Far was released from prison following the downfall of late strongman Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 after having languished in jail for many years over accusations of joining an extremist group.
Libyans have struggled to restore order to their country since Gaddafi's ouster and subsequent killing.
The transitional government and its security forces, meanwhile, are struggling to contain some of the armed militias that helped overthrow Gaddafi but continue to held onto their weapons.Last Mod: 08 Nisan 2014, 11:07
