Malagasy President Hery Rajaonarimampianina on Friday named Christophe Roger Kolo new prime minister and instructed him to form a new government, sources with the country's presidency said.
The appointment ended the almost three-month vacancy of Madagascar's premiership.
A physician by training, Kolo made his career in France and Switzerland before returning to his native country, according to an Anadolu Agency reporter.
Following a 2009 military coup against the country's elected president, Marc Ravalomanana, Madagascar was internationally isolated.
This isolation eased, however, following presidential and legislative polls last December.
Rajaonarimampianina was ultimately declared winner of the presidential election, with 53 percent of the votes.Last Mod: 12 Nisan 2014, 10:16
