Mauritanian voters cast ballot on Saturday in the first round of legislative and local elections.
Some 64 parties are registered vie for 147 seats in parliament and 47 parties compete for 218 local councils.
Around 1.2 million people are eligible to vote in the 2,769 polling stations around the country.
The second round of the ballot is expected within two weeks.
The 11-party Coordination of Democratic Opposition (COD) has boycotted the vote, citing the use of state resources to campaign for the ruling Union for the Republic.Last Mod: 23 Kasım 2013, 11:57
