Supporters and opponents of ousted President Mohamed Morsi clashed in the coastal city of Alexandria on Tuesday, amid reports about casualties.
The clashes erupted in al-Soyof district in eastern Alexandria after pro-Morsi demonstrators chanted slogans against the Egyptian army.
Birdshots were heard in the area as rival protests hurled stones at each other.
Egypt has been in turmoil since the powerful military ousted democratically elected Morsi following mass protests against his presidency.
