Nigerian state imposes curfew over attack

World Bulletin / News Desk

Nigerian authorities have imposed a 24-hour curfew in the northeastern state of Yorbe over fears of a possible attack by Boko Haram insurgents, sources told Anadolu Agency on Friday.

According to the sources, the curfew was imposed following suspicion that Boko Haram insurgents were planning a massive attack on the state in the wake of an attack on a petrol station on Thursday.

Boko Haram, hitherto a peaceful group campaigning against bad governance and corruption, has since the 2009 killing of its leader Yusuf metamorphosed into a full-blown terrorist organization.
