Nigerian army operations targeting Boko Haram have left 74 militants dead, the army said on Friday.
The army said it deployed bombs and ground troops to destroy camps in Borno on Thursday.
Army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Dole said 74 militants were killed in the assault outside Maiduguri, the capital and the largest city of Borno State in north-eastern Nigeria where Boko Haram was founded more than a decade ago.
Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan imposed a state of emergency across the northeast in mid-May when the offensive was launched.
Two soldiers and numerous militants were reportedly wounded during the operations.
