Spouse of Niger President Mahamadou Issoufou, Malika Issoufou Mahamadou, has said she was glad that Turkey was cooperating with Niger.

Malika Issoufou Mahamadou received Turkey's International Development and Cooperation Agency (TIKA) and Doctors Worldwide delegation at the presidential palace in capital Niamey.

TIKA West Africa official Seda Unal, and Doctors Worldwide board member Havva Sula briefed Mahamadou on Turkey's possible contributions to the region. TIKA launched projects following Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Niger in January.

Saying that Turkey was a sister country for them, Mahamadou added she considered Turks more closer than other nations.

Mahamadou said she was so glad that Turkish government and NGOs cooperated with Niger, adding that sister country Turkey's cooperation was very important for them, Turkey's contribution to Niger was big.
